Fire & Smoke Restoration

Fire damage is one of the most traumatic and catastrophic events you can experience as a home or business owner. Fires can destroy homes and buildings in a very short amount of time and leave your property completely destroyed. Another factor to consider is that what doesn't get burned in a fire can often be damaged by smoke and soot. Safety is the #1 concern when you have a fire, so please make sure you call 911 if you can't put out the fire yourself with a fire extinguisher. Once the fires have been put out, Check's Restoration can come and start the repair process right away. First, we come and secure your home by board-up and temporary fencing if necessary. Once the site is secure we make sure your contents and personal property are stored and secure while they are inventoried in order to be repaired or replaced. After the contents are secure and out of the way, we start the repair process by removing and replacing any damaged materials, and restoring the rest.

All materials that are not removed will be cleaned and sealed in order to remove the odor caused by smoke and soot. Since there are several types of smoke and they all behave differently, it is necessary to determine what kind of smoke you have in your home or business.

* Wet Smoke - low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean
* Dry Smoke - fast burning and at high temperatures
* Protein - sometimes invisible, discolors surfaces, extremely pungent odor that can be very hard to remove
* Fuel Oil Soot - When a furnace puffs back smoke
* Other - fire extinguisher residue, tear gas, fingerprint powder, etc

Once we determine the types of smoke involved we can determine what can be cleaned and restored, and what will need to be replaced. We can also determine the most effective cleaning methods to use in order to restore your property.
